We just finished up our Earth & Space unit in science. Our science book only had two sections (one teeny, tiny chapter!) on it, so I went to this project I created several years ago. My 6th graders had to choose two of the projects to complete. However, when I taught a combined 3rd/4th grade class, they only had to choose one.
I wanted each student to truly find something they enjoy, so I went with the multiple intelligences – verbal/linguistic, visual/spatial, logical/mathematical, bodily/kinesthetic, musical/rhythmic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalist. Every student was able to find something they liked, but my theory is let me know if you’re more creative than my ideas!
The students were given two days in class with access to their textbooks, classroom computers, and ipads. At that point, they presented them to the class (because I’m always looking for ways to make them get up in front of their peers so high school speech class isn’t so scary!).
