Those of you who have been readers for awhile, probably remember my teaching portfolio how to and tips blog post. Times change, people evolve, and pretty soon you’re looking for a new position. That’s the case for my husband right now. He’s on the lookout for a principal or athletic director position. So when I recently came across Stephanie’s blog post at The New Principal Principles, I was ecstatic! You see, Stephanie is a principal in Texas who also blogs and creates awesome resources for the teachers in her school. She has a passion and drive that I’m honestly jealous of. Her heart is in education for the kids and for helping the adults who teach them. When I found out she had created a principal interview binder, I knew it was EXACTLY what my husband needed to make him stand out from the crowd and land the perfect principal job!
One of Stephanie’s 2016 goals is to create an entire line of products to help principals. (Hello, generous!) It just so happens that helping them with the interview process was the first one. I think I read her entire blog post in two minutes flat, and she had me running to purchase the product.
Check out couldn’t come fast enough! 🙂
That’s when I started pouring through the download and got REALLY excited! Stephanie laid out exactly what a principal should expect at the interview. She gives over 20 pages of resources! You find out who to expect to be on the interview committee, illegal questions that cannot be asked, a look at her presentation (which my husband has turned into a principal interview binder to leave with schools – see below), keywords to consider adding to your resume and cover letter, what types of information to know about the school and district, what to bring with you to the interview, and how to get organized so you’re ready when the perfect position opens up.
To say Stephanie has been thorough is an understatement! She’s got EVERYTHING a principal could want, in one easy download!
But wait – it gets even better! With your purchase you also get access to an amazing Facebook group. In this group you’ll find other like-minded individuals who either currently have or are searching for an administrative position. Stephanie and the group members will help you walk through various interview questions and the types of answers the committee is looking for. My husband has already been lost in there for long periods of time, and the group is just getting started!
Now – why on earth would I be sharing this principal interview binder information with you today? You’re probably wondering if Stephanie paid me to say any of this. Nope! As a matter of fact, I downloaded the product without even talking to her first. Then I e-mailed asking if I could help spread the world. Truth be told, I’m a little upset with her! I applied for a principal position in early 2014, and she hadn’t created this product yet! SHAME ON HER! 😉 (I’ll forgive you, Steph! This product is forgiveness worthy!)
But, in all seriousness, please stop over at Stephanie’s blog and check out her awesome product to help you nail the principal interview. My husband already has his principal interview binder put together, and I can’t wait until he can shout out in the secret Facebook group that Stephanie helped him land his first admin job! 🙂
