One of the big things the 5th graders completed this year was a Project Fair. They did a poetry book, ABCs of United States History book, a biography summary on a person, a book cover of their all-time favorite book, and a science fair project.
These pictures are of their book covers. The students took their all-time favorite book and created a new cover for it. They had to include the author, illustrator (if applicable), publisher, author biography, and story summary. They created all of this on their own, and they turned out pretty darn cool!
This is what the crazy, filled up room looked like with science fair boards all over the place!
Here are a couple of the boards that I thought were particularly well done! These kiddos had some pretty clever science experiment ideas! Some looked at detergent and what worked better, others determined the melting point of chocolate (YUMMY!), one student looked at which flavor of bubble gum lasts the longest, and the list goes on and on…

Thanks for sharing. Your projects look great. My partner teacher and I are planning to do poetry books for one of the projects this first quarter. We do project based learning.
